The Cartoon Photo Tool transforms ordinary photographs into colourful cartoon-style artwork in just a few clicks. Whether you want a comic book look, a bold poster effect or a softer illustrated style, the app gives you complete control over the final result.
Instead of applying a single fixed filter, you can adjust colours, outlines, contrast and other settings to create anything from a gentle illustration to a dramatic cartoon image.
What the app does
The tool analyses your photograph and simplifies colours while adding clear outlines and illustrated shading. The result looks more like hand-drawn artwork than a standard photograph.
You can begin with one of the built-in presets, including Clean Cartoon, Comic Book, Poster Style and Soft Illustration, before making further adjustments if required.
How to use the Cartoon Photo Tool
Click Upload Image or drag a photograph into the upload area. The preview appears straight away so you can begin editing.
Select one of the preset styles for a quick starting point or use the sliders to create your own look. Every adjustment updates the preview, making it easy to experiment until you're happy with the result.
When you've finished, choose either PNG or JPEG and download your completed cartoon image.
Adjusting the cartoon effect
The controls allow you to fine-tune every part of the illustration. Overall Cartoon changes the strength of the effect, while Colour Smoothness simplifies the photograph into flatter areas of colour.
Poster Levels controls how many colour bands remain, Outline Strength makes important edges stand out, and Fine Detail lets you decide how much of the original texture is preserved.
You can also adjust Colour Boost, Contrast, Brightness, Ink Shadows and Soft Glow to create anything from a clean modern cartoon to a bold comic book illustration.
Colour modes and presets
If you'd like to change the overall appearance quickly, simply switch between Natural Colour, Bright Comic Colour, Warm Illustration and Black and White Comic.
The presets provide useful starting points, but every setting remains adjustable afterwards, allowing you to create your own style instead of relying on fixed effects.
Editing with confidence
You can compare your work with the original photograph at any time using the Hold Original button, while Undo and Redo make it easy to step backwards and forwards through your recent changes.
The Random Cartoon button creates a fresh combination of settings automatically if you're looking for inspiration, and the Reset All option returns the controls to their default positions whenever you want to begin again.
